This
is a 1984 3Rensho SR Export.
The
bike was repaired and repainted by CyclArt in 1991, after the top
tube was damaged by UPS when it was shipped across country. When
it was repainted, I had them chrome the rear dropouts, and I added
a pump peg, chain hangar, second set of bottle bosses on the seat
tube, and different top tube cable guides. The fork was fully-chromed
when I got the bike, but I had it repainted this way, because I
liked it better. CyclArt also added the two-color paint in the investment-cast
seat stay tops. The offset fork crown is unique 3Rensho design.
The tubing is Ishiwata, with an investment-cast bottom bracket and
seat stay caps. The dropouts are Shimano EF.
Most
of the components are original Campy Nuovo Record and Super Record.
The changes are a Chris King headset, brake pads from Koolstop (Campy-compatible)
in Campy Chorus holders with Allen-key fittings, Gore brake cables,
TA chainrings (52-41), and Ti Eggbeaters pedals. The bars and stem
are a Nitto Dream Bar (44) and a Nitto Pearl (10), with Benotto
tape over some white padded Scott tape. Seat is a Selle Italia Turbomatic
3. The freewheel is a Dura Ace 7400, with a hollow-pin Regina SL
chain. Bottle cages are Velocity (adjustable).
The
wheels are new: Phil Wood hubs, Mavic Open Pro rims, with DT spokes,
and Vittoria CX 25C tires. The quick-releases are Campy C Record.
The hex-head fitting bolts on most of the components have been changed
to stainless steel hex-key bolts, where possible.
