Here is my slightly idiosyncratic sport tourer built by Chris Bull at Circle A Cycles.

The gearing on this is meant to get me over the steepest of climbs. My ratios go from 103" down to 21" using 42/26 chainrings and an 11-34 cassette. There is what looks like an alarming gap between the 105 front derailleur and the 42t ring (necessitated by chainstay clearance), but the shifting is smooth and positive with the friction barcons. The front derailler is adjusted so that there is no chance of overshift in either direction. The neutral chain line on the 42t ring is on the 17t sprocket giving a comfortable cruising gear ratio of 67".

Here's a parts list:
Circle A Cycles 55cm (c to t) Columbus Zona frame.
