I built this up especially for winter riding here in the Twin Cities. The mid 90's Gary Fisher Tassajara is a rigid MTB. It is foolish to ride a geared bike through the Minnesotan winter. So, I hashed this bike together with a Singleator knock-off geared for climbing short hills and descending w/out the bike getting ahead the the pedals.

Via Craigslist I picked up a Salsa Moto handlebar and a NiteRider Cyclops for 20 bucks. I installed a Blackburn Expedition rack and some Mt. Zefal fenders that I picked up at the yard sale for 3 bucks - new in box. It is not the same yard sale that I found the original bike for 50 bucks.

I added some Bontrager H-4 26" x 1.5 hybrid tires. I added some LX cranks and SPD pedals I had laying around. I order and installed a new Bontrager seat post and topped it with a Bontrager Race Lux saddle for comfort.

It tuned out to be a great ride. The only thing I may need to change are the tires, which is dependent on what kind of winter we will have this year.....hopefully mild and hot!!!
