Here's
my commuter, with brand new bar tape. It's a 60cm Trek 510. I bought
it in 1986 or 1987. I stripped it in the early 1990s, had cantilever
bosses brazed on, set for 700c wheels instead of the 27" wheels
it was first built for, and used it as my first cross bike. Then
I had it set up as a city bike with a derailleur, and for the last
few years it's been set up as a fixie commuter. I got it powder
coated so I wouldn't have to spray it every couple of years. Currently
set up with a lot of spare parts bin bits and pieces, but also with
a Nitto Technomic stem, Brooks B-17 saddle, Ritchey cross tires,
and a new rear rack. I ride it to work with an Ortlieb pannier on
the back. 26 pounds of bike plus a computer and books with one gear
and no coasting keeps me honest.
Thanks
again.
