Replaced tires with Hutchisons ($4), tubes ($6), grips ($5).
Ditched all derailers, two chainrings, rear 7spd cassette and shifters.
Replaced quill stem with threadless adaptor and ICON threadless stem
42X18 gearing for flat dirt (coastal virginia, duh) and asphalt.
Installed $18 single-speed conversion kit from performance.
Replaced big fat lame gel seat with classic MTB seat by Avocet.

Just over $60 out of pocket with minimal labor. GREAT ride.

Look at the cantilevers on this thing- PAUL and AVID should be jealous!
