Schwinn Prelude -

Simply lugged frame & fork with Columbus Tenax tubing. It's dirty. Finish is rough, with numerous chips and imperfections, but it's ready to be revived. Comes with headset and bottom bracket installed. Both need to be plucked out and overhauled. The BB is particularly dry. Stylin' "Chicago Schwinn" headbadge. This was to be a fixed project for a smaller friend. Too small for me and the friend lost interest before we started pulling everything apart. One of the rear dropout adjuster screws is missing the knurled knob.

Nothing looks bent, but I have not measured seriously. I never built this up even as a geared bicycle, so I won't attest to its ride, vertical compliance, bottom bracket stiffness, sparkling handling, disappearring underneath the rider or any fancy bike review terms.

I snapped a few photos last weekend - they are kind of quick and dirty so if you have questions about things that aren't shown or specified, please feel free to email me. The wheels are pretty neglected. Hubs (Exage front, 105 rear) are dry. Freewheel is OK but a little "no one has used me in years" sticky. There is no QR for the front wheel and the tube was shot. The tires probably have a bit of life left in them, but personally I wouldn't start an unsupported tour on them. They are (front) 700x23C Specialized Transition and (rear): 700x28C Specialized Touring II. Freewheel is a 13-28 7 speed.

So - that's the bad news. The good news is that the first $85 takes it, shipped via UPS anywhere in the continental US (obviously, that excludes Alaska and Hawaii, but it you live there, I can probably come up with a shipping price). Paypal (not credit card) or Money Order. If you want to coordinate pickup in the North Bay (SF, CA area), that will save you $15.

Email me if you're interested. Thanks for looking!
