Finally sending pictures of my AD VN II.

1983 Austro Daimler Vent Noir II as far as we can tell, purchased from my brother-in-laws nephew. Built up with existing parts, nothing NEW purchased, except tires, headset and bar wrap.

Frame is Reynolds 531, which gives a nice compliant ride, without being squishy/soft. I like the ride of this frame, and this would be considered my "go fast" bicycle.

Using my old racing parts as the heart of the build I incorporated older Suntour Superbe Pro, including the crank with 39/53 rings, and Suntour Wishbone shifters (not Superbe Pro, but I raced with them in the early 90's).

Brakes were found in the parts bin at ACME Bicycle in KC and are nice Weinnmann 810 (Vancqueur 999) with Koolstop pads and short-reach Shimano 600 levers (first gen Ultegra). This bike is set up for sidepulls so I had to figure out a way to mount a cable-stop for the rear brake, hence the addition on the seatpost. Works quite well.

A Campy front derailleur was pulled from my parts bin, so that I can say I have SOMETHING Italian on my bike! Rear derailleur is an 8-spd XT which runs my 12-32 8-spd cassette in back (I'm getting older!). Wheels are my old race set of Phil Wood hubs laced to Mavic Open 4CD's...in need of replacement, with Conti UltraSport tires.

Saddle is a Brooks purchased from a Bob on the iBob list, very comfortable! Seatpost is my old Time Trial post.

I needed to stretch out a bit, so I used an older Control Tech ATB stem of mine, which sets me about perfect. The Barend plugs are an idea stolen from Sarah at ACME...Boulevard Limited Edition beer bottle cork and cover. GOOD beer and great reusing of parts!

Thanks for the cool site!
