Early
90's Specialized Allez
Here's
my Specialized Allez steel. In my opinion, this was one of the finest
mass-produced frames from that era; it's beautifully made, has very
nice lugwork, and rides like it should - like a good, steel, classic
road bike. Originally, it came with a bonded Aluminum fork, which
I found to be far too noodly, so I had a framebuilder (Joe Williams
at Williams American Cycles) build me up a fork out of Tange Prestige
with a Henry James crown and a Columbus SLX steerer. I originally
bought this frame on eBay, and immediately had it repainted by Bryan
Myers at FreshFrame in Ephrata, PA; unfortunately, Bryan has now
limited his work to OEM painting for a number of framebuilders.
Components
are primarily Shimano Ultegra 9 speed STI, with a Christ King headset,
Nitto Technomic Deluxe stem, Nitto "Noodle" bars, a Nitto
seatpost, a Brooks B17, and the wheels are Mavic 571/2 cassette
hubs with DT road 1.1 rims and Continental Supersport tires.
