This
is a 1972 Bob Jackson Grand Prix (according to official record from
BJ). It was gathering dust in a bike shop when I bought it and was
in a rather sorry state.
Frame
cleaned up and resprayed in British Racing Green with gold lining
around the lugs. The
old colour scheme was Flandrian red and white (and lots of rust
spots!).
Original
Ofmega hubs, pedals and chainrings, Mavic GP4 rims, Campag Nuovo
Record rear derailleur, and Cinelli bars and stem are all still
on the bike.
I
added Campag downtube levers and quick release skewers, Campag NR
front mech, brakes and brake levers and replaced the old and rather
battered Brooks saddle with a new Brooks Professional.
The
bike rides superbly and is my regular ride on relatively flat outings.
The
chainrings are 52/42 so bottom gear is 42 x 24 which is a little
testing on some of the hills up here in the beautiful English Lake
District. But I am reluctant to change the set-up as this was how
the bike was originally specified.
