Here's a road bike I built from Columbus Metax stainless steel tubing. Metax was made for a couple of years in the mid 1990s, but is no longer available.

The bike is lugged and silver brazed. The lugs are Long Shen. The fork is a Kestrel EMS, with carbon fiber fork blades and a one-inch steel steering tube.

The components are mostly 9-speed Dura-Ace or Ultegra, but the crankset is a "compact" TA Zephyr, which I'm using with a 113 mm Phil Wood bottom bracket. This combo gives a very low "Q" factor. I built one set of wheels (in the lower photos) from 32-hole Dura-Ace hubs and Velocity Deep-V rims. Both front and rear are laced three-cross. The front wheel uses Sapim Laser spokes, and the rear Wheelsmith DB-14.
