Jim,
This
is my flagship ride. Its wide gear range and long stays allow me
to ride all day long in comfort. This is not a show bike. There's
nothing exotic on it, just nice functional bits. I've pushed it
all over Los Angeles: to work, on club rides, to the beach, and
out to meals and clubs on the weekends.
I
bought the bike from the original owner back in January. She had
recently been taking it on long day rides and it was well-maintained.
Sadly the original Huret DuoPar rear derailleur was long gone. I
replaced the saddle with a new Brooks. I also added aero brake levers
and crosstop levers. Since I don't carry 40-pound loads, I've opted
for a sportier wheelset. The drivetrain has also been changed out
to all new Shimano 9-speed stuff, mostly to see how it would work
out. So far I love it. I like indexed shifting for city riding.
