1985
Batavus Competition
First,
thank you for the excellent website. I've drawn great inspiration
from the bicycles featured here.
However,
I find the Current Classics gallery wanting in one area: the inclusion
of a Batavus build! (Though there is one Batavus frame in the Singlespeed
gallery).
This
bicycle is built around what I believe to be a 1985 Batavus Competition
frameset, with Reynolds 531 main frame tubes. I purchased it with
a mix of parts, but I believe it was originally specād as a road
racer with Campagnolo Triomphe. If anyone has any additional information
on this frame or the original build, I would be glad to learn it!
The
bike offers an excellent ride, perfect for day touring. It has just
been built, so it will never be this clean again. Miles to go before
it sleeps!
