Here is my 1983? Raleigh Wyoming touring bike. It was made in Taiwan for Raleigh U.S.A. and I'm guessing at the year. All the tubing is Raleigh 555T which is some sort of chrome moly tubing. I have replaced the fork and headset with an after market one and I have converted the bike from 27 1/4" to 700c wheels. I used long reach Dia Compe centerpulls from Rivendell and took the levers off my old Technium Raleigh. I wanted an all around machine that could use wide tires and fenders since I live in the Northwest and I am a heavy rider. The tires are Panaracer Urbanmax 32mm and the rims are 36 spoke Mavic T520's. The hubs are Shimano 105's and I had the back end cold set to take the 130mm spaced hubs. I replaced the crankset with a Sugino XD 600 with 46x36x24 chain rings and with the 11-32, 8-speed cassette, I can climb nearly any hill. I purchased Rivendells Silver bar end shifters, their Nitto 41cm noodle bar and dirtdrop stem. I have a shorter reach and really appreciate not having numb hands, with this combination. I purchased the Brooks Champion Flyer saddle because the springs help iron out rough chipseal roads. The long wheelbase ride is really smooth but it still manages to make some downhill turns at 40 mph. I may repaint in the future if I can find a source for the decals. I use this bike for all my longer group rides and some commuting and it remains my favorite.
