I
found this Cilo mixte while walking around in Little India, Singapore,
and thought it would make a great project. By chance, it belonged
to the owner of the cafe next door, who bought it some years ago
from a Swiss expatriate. I bought it on the spot, put it into a
cab and took it home.
The
original bicycle came with a highly polished Friko handlebar, SR
stem, Cilo wheels and spokes, Michelin World Tour tyres, Shimano
Adamas drivetrain, Weinmann brakes and levers, Pletscher rear rack
and kickstand, a Lucifer headlamp, Italian plastic grips, a Japanese
saddle on a SR post, and ESGE fenders.
The rebuilt bicycle has a Nitto-Jitensha bar, Technomic DX stem,
Velocity Dyad-Maxicar wheels, Shimano 600 Arabesque drivetrain,
Weinmann 750 centrepulls and Dia-Compe PC-800 levers, Brooks Team
Pro saddle on a Dura Ace post and Grand Bois Cypres tyres.
The
original paint job had fades and lug lining over metallic pink.
The repaint stripped off all the pitted chrome and resprayed the
frame a deep metallic red with a cream window on the seat tube and
head tube.
It's
still a project-in-progress, and is waiting for the Berthoud fenders,
VO rear rack, MKS pedals and a couple other things to go on later
this year.
Thanks
to all who contributed parts to this bike over the iBOB list.
