1984 Schwinn High Sierra.

Over 20 years old... One in the family of first generation mountain bikes. Retail was $695 or so.

I bought for $40 from a guy in Virginia Beach- He had two identical ones.

Description (all original except where indicated ***):
20" Black Taiwanese tig-welded 4130 Chromoly frame and forks.
Semi horizontal dropouts.
Araya rims with SS spokes and brass nipples
Sansin high-flange hubs, rear hub is freewheel not cassette. Neither are quick release.
Sugino triple cranks, generic square taper BB
Shimano platform pedals
Bull Moose handlebar/stem combo
Cheap grips and seat (original), seat post is really wierd... allows adjustments fore and aft of about six inches
Panaracer tires and tubes (original believe it or not)
SunTour ARX Mountech derailers
SunTour power ratchet bar-top thumb index shifters
Diacompe Frog-Leg cantilever brake calipers with Diacompe moto brake levers
Rear 5 speed freewheel and BMX chain were swapped for a
***7spd Shimano Mega Range freewheel and ***SRAM 7spd indexed chain

This new drivetrain is as smooth as anything I have EVER ridden in 20 plus years.
