This
42cm Bridgestone XO-1 is a 1992 model, with normal-reach sidepull
caliper brakes for the 26inch wheels. These
bikes were originally sold with moustache handlebars and double
cranks, and they make splendid little road machines for shorter
riders.
This
bike has been reconfigured for "fast touring" with a 165mm triple
crankset, drop bars, and 26x1.25 Pasela folding tires. The wide
ratio drivetrain has 24/42/52 chainrings and a 12-28 cassette for
low climbing efficiency, good cruising gears and high speed. The
interrupter levers make it easy to brake from the top of the handlebar
while enjoying the scenery. And the Berthoud Stainless steel fenders
provide good coverage.
I
purchased this bike several years ago, and I had been saving it
for my daughters, but I now realize that it's better suited for
a petit adult rider who can appreciate a fine road bike, and so
the bike has found a new owner. This reconfiguration was something
that I've had in mind for some time, and I wanted to see it implemented
before it was sold.
